“If Kafka and Philip K. Dick had a brainchild raised on government experiments and moral ambiguity, Exoskeleton would be it. Shane Stadler’s debut novel grabs you by the collar, straps you into a claustrophobic nightmare, and refuses to let go — all while smirking like it knows something you don’t.” --Goodreads Reviewer
A man convicted of a crime he didn’t commit opts for a mysterious alternative sentence. But what unfolds is a psychological and physical descent into a brutal experimental program that’s part sci-fi horror, part supernatural psycho-thriller. Think 1984 meets Cube, with a splash of Cronenberg’s bodily unease and just enough scientific foundation and supernatural alternate reality to make you question your own existence.

"This book will put a mark on your soul ..."
"Most original fiction I've read in years ... Well written, exciting, fast-paced, and absolutely original in every way. It's sci-fi, it's a techno-thriller, it's paranormal, it's government conspiracy and justice perverted, a drama and a story of redemption all at the same time. I loved every minute of it!"
"Most original sci-fi series in the past 2 decades … awesome characters, and riveting plot. Don’t miss this series, you will love it."
“This series is like Isaac Asimov, Dolores Cannon, and Ian Fleming all got together and wrote this story …”
“Bloody hell, what a ride! I truly loved the series, probably the best development of a story I have ever read …”
Shane Stadler is an experimental physicist and university professor. He spent his early career at the US Naval Research Laboratory and other government labs. He has written five novels, including the four-book, sci-fi Exoskeleton series, and is the coauthor of a well-known college physics textbook. He has published over 250 scientific articles on topics that range from magnetic cooling to spintronics to superconductivity.
The Exoskeleton series can best be described as "speculative" in the sense that they are not constrained to a specific genre. They are rather a fusion of science fiction, psycho-horror, and supernatural thriller. His most recent novel, The Peregrine Conjecture (2023), is a blend of sci-fi and spy-thriller, with modern themes reminiscent of George Orwell's 1984 and Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.
